DESCRIPTION:Join us on Monday, February 12th as we host CQI’s half-day class, Learning CQI Flavor Standards for the very first time! This is your opportunity to become familiar with CQI’s newest module in all Q Grader Courses using their standardized FlavorActiv capsules.\nThis class is designed to introduce the CQI Flavor standards to students. It accomplishes this by:\n\nProviding a basic understanding of how the senses of taste and smell function\nIntroducing and practicing recalling 7 Flavor Standards generally considered to be Positive Attributes\nIntroducing and practicing recalling 7 Flavor Standards generally considered to be Off-Flavors\nConducting a practice test that is the same format as the flavor calibration.\nThe attendee will learn how to prepare and recognize CQI Flavor Standards.\n\nAbout the course:\nThis class is ideal for coffee professionals who are new to the world of CQI’s Flavor Standards. We will help you gain the knowledge, skills and understanding of Flavor Standards you need to find success in CQI Combo Courses &amp; Calibrations as this is the newest module required in those courses. We will have access to CQI-standardized learning and flavor calibration tools and students are encouraged to ask questions throughout the class.\nWe will conduct a practice test that is the same format as the flavor calibration required for all Licensed Q Graders.\nThis 4 hour class is perfect for coffee enthusiasts or professionals looking to gain essential flavor knowledge and/or calibrate themselves for their Q Grader Combo Course.\nAbout the Educator:\nMadeleine is the co-owner of Pacific Coffee Research, a coffee education center and roastery located in Kalaoa (Kailua-Kona), Hawai’i. Madeleine is currently a licensed Q Arabica Grader and Q Arabica Assistant Instructor. Her coffee career has taken her around the world from working in cafes in the United States and Australia to working on coffee farms and with growers in Hawai’i and Central America. The common theme through those experiences has been the pursuit of knowledge and further education. Madeleine has been training and teaching coffee professionals since 2012 and continues her own educational journey through those experiences. An active member of the coffee community, Madeleine was a SCA US Chapter Community Coordinator and currently chairs the Hawai’i Coffee Association’s Cafe Collective committee. She also currently serves as the Vice President of the Synergistic Hawai’i Agriculture Council (SHAC) in pursuit of promoting and supporting Hawai’i agriculture groups.\n
