DESCRIPTION:Join PCR as we host the Barista Skills Intermediate course of SCA’s Coffee Skills Program. This course will be taught by our dear friend & international barista trainer Zoey Thorson of Felix Roasting Company.\nThe Barista Skills Intermediate course is designed to test core knowledge and to introduce more advanced barista skills and understanding expected from a competent specialty coffee professional. In this 2.5-day course, students will learn to quickly and consistently dial in a brew recipe, make a full range of drinks with quality and speed, as well as understand basic requirements for customer service and workspace maintenance. The first two days are spent covering lecture topics and tasting exercises with exams in between; the last day will involve remaining exams for certification.\nTopics in this course include:Understanding the BeanCoffee Freshness for EspressoWorkspace ManagementEspresso ParametersMilk Chemistry & Steaming MechanicsCustomer ServiceEquipment Cleaning & TroubleshootingCafe Management\nHave questions? All knowledge and skills from these modules will be assumed as being held and may be tested through the practical and/or written assessments in order to complete Barista Intermediate.\nFor more information on the Barista Foundation Course, please click here\n**In keeping within CDC guidelines surrounding covid-19, this course is limited to 6 students with 1 instructor and 1 facilitator aid. Students will be required to wear masks at all times, except when tasting exercises and exams are facilitated. There will be no shared drinking vessels.Pacific Coffee Research maintains a sanitary space and always has extra PPE on-site, including medical-grade masks & gloves. Our team will ensure all surfaces are continuously disinfected to ensure the safety of all participants in this course.
