We’re not sure what it is, but we love coffees from Papua New Guinea. We’ve purchased several different coffees from PNG over the years and have never been disappointed. This particular coffee comes to us from the Roots #1 Farmers Assocation, located in the Okapa District of the Eastern Highlands.
Roots #1 is a cooperative of about 1,590 smallholder producers and was formed by farmer Tony Tokah in 2012 in an effort to organize coffee farmers in his community to deliver coffee more cost-effectively and to share resources. The co-op also has a focus on encouraging women producers to participate in coffee business.
Today, Roots #1 has a full processing and warehouse facility including Pinhalense equipment to do their own milling.
