August Pau Hana: Exploring Roast Profiles

📅 Hosted at Pacific Coffee Research – Friday August 14 4-6 pm

August Pau Hana: The Art of Roast Profiling

Join Pacific Coffee Research for our August Pau Hana as we dive deep into one of coffee’s most transformative processes: roasting.

This month, we’re exploring how roast profile shapes flavor. We’ll be using a single origin coffee taken through multiple distinct roast stages. Tasting each stage side by side lets you experience firsthand how time, temperature, and development transform the same green coffee into dramatically different cups.

Guiding the session is PCR’s lead AST (Authorized SCA Trainer) in the SCA Coffee Skills Roasting Program, who will walk through the science of each stage of the roast – what’s happening inside the bean, how roasters make decisions in real time that reshape a coffee’s character.

Whether you’re a coffee drinker who is curious about what “roast level” really means, or a industry professional looking to sharpen your skills, this is a hands-on opportunity to taste the impact of roasting decisions and ask your burning questions in a safe space!

As always, this is a chance to treat yourself to an afternoon of delicious coffee, stunning views, and a unique tasting experience.

Space is limited, so be sure to register in advance! Pupus and refreshments served.

This is a free event, open to the public, with no prior cupping/coffee experience necessary.
