A Coffee Farm, Kaʻū

This Kaʻū coffee comes from a new farm in the Moaʻula neighborhood, nestled in the Cloud Rest area—just behind Pāhala and near the well-known Wood Valley. This marks the first harvest season from A Coffee Farm operated by the same exceptional duo who formerly managed Wood Valley Coffee Farm: Rus and Alla.

We’re thrilled to continue our collaboration with Rus and Alla, whose dedication and expertise consistently yield outstanding coffees. Over the years, we’ve partnered with them in quality analysis, farm visits, and industry projects, all aimed at elevating the Hawaiʻi coffee community. In 2023, our collaboration earned us a Good Food Award with their coffee.

A Coffee Farm is perched on the eastern slopes of Mauna Loa. This 90-acre coffee sanctuary is the vision of James McCully and Ruslan and Alla Kuznetsov. Their diverse range of varieties, including Red Catuai, Lempira, Parainema, and Tabi,  are crafted through washed, natural, honey, and yeast-inoculated processes. James, a longtime Big Island farmer, and Rus and Alla, whose backgrounds span music, wine, and agriculture, share a deep passion for Hawaiʻi coffee. Their work reflects both resilience and craft, yielding coffees that capture the unique spirit of Kaʻū.

This dynamic coffee is sweet from first to last sip with delicate floral notes of yellow flower and honey, balanced with citrus fruit and caramel.
