Roasting Fundamentals is a combination tasting and lecture experience. In this 2-hour class, we’ll uncover basic principles of coffee roasting including definitions, measuring points, and connecting color and flavor to roasting time and temperature of the roasting environment. This is a thorough introduction to basic concepts of coffee roasting through lecture and practical sensory application.

We will cover the following topics:

  • Basic components of a drum roaster
  • Roast terminology and definitions 
  • Data measuring points
  • Machine Design
  • Connecting color with flavor
  • How to read a roast curve
  • Roast level tasting

No recommended prerequisites or preparation necessary.

*This class can be offered online without the roast level tasting for $100/ person
