Hawai’i Coffee Tasting – A Virtual Experience
Join the PCR team in this online-version of one of our most popular classes – a Hawai’i Coffee Tasting!
Experience the variety of flavors that Hawai’i-grown coffee has to offer in this 2-hour tasting. We’ll go beyond Kona and taste four different coffees from Kona, Ka’u, Maui, and O’ahu. This informal tasting is designed to introduce folks to the basics of building sensory skills in coffee. We will also discuss the history of coffee in Hawai’i, how the industry has changed and grown over the years, and where we stand today. Since you will be brewing your own coffee, we will also cover some basic brewing information & techniques and we will provide you with brewing recipes for each coffee.
Registration for this class will close 7 days before the start date, on April 7th, to ensure all students receive their coffee samples before our workshop on April 14th. Registrants should expect a package to arrive to your door within 2 days of the class – it will include 4 coffee samples of 50 grams each along with an info card so you can learn a bit more about each coffee!
Materials needed for this class include:
1 x Kettle (temperature-controlled is preferred, but not required)
1 x Gram Scale
1 x Burr Grinder (we will send you ground coffee, if you don’t have a grinder at home)
Your preferred brew method!
If you don’t own some of the above equipment, let us know and we can point you in the right direction
Once you sign up, you will receive a link to join our video call via email, so please keep an eye out for that and check your spam folder if you don’t hear from us within 24 hours of reserving your spot.
To maintain a similar learning environment to our in-person classes, we are limiting class size to 10 students per tasting.
We look forward to learning and tasting with you in this new way!
